Good Morning:
Based on earlier e-mail traffic and my discussions with Yuri
this morning, it appears that Marco and Yuri have come to
a resolution on the use of the space inside the cleanroom
that is consistent with the new schedule...
That's good.
Naturally, we still need to address the issues in the surrounding
area that seems to have contributed to this problem. Amrit and
I walked through the space this morning and surveyed the
remaining materials (I've attached a photograph). It appears that
when the work on the Forward Tracker was completed and the
assembly was installed, a significant amount of equipment and
infrastructure was abandoned in place.
I certainly can understand this, as schedule pressures tend to
force people to move quickly between tasks. Still, we eventually
must clear the space for other uses. To that end, I've discussed
the materials that are there with Facilities and Physics staff and
propose the following steps.
1) DSG will provide technical staff to look through the remaining
electronics, modules and components that are there and package
them for storage. Much of the components will be stored in the
DSG storage area on the EEL mezzanine or in the DSG cabinets.
2) I will submit a material storage request to Facilities to collect and
store the work benches and electronics enclosures that are in the
area for future use.
3) I will submit a excess request to have the vast array of chairs that
are in the area returned to Facilities for future use.
4) I will ask Stepan to send representatives from the Forward Tracker
group to collect and remove any remaining equipment associated with
the project.
5) Everything in the area after this will be excessed or disposed of
and we'll schedule a sweep and mop by janitorial services.
After this is complete the space will be available for reuse, either by
the SVT installation or whatever future projects are in the pipe.
Naturally, I'll need to touch base with Stepan and Patrizia before we
proceed, but I should be able to provide a final decision by the end of
the day.
As always, its a pleasure doing business with you...
Walt
