dear pablo,
thanks for the e-mail.
hmmm, now i think, i understand what the upgraded - downgraded is about.
it's a good idea to have both systems identical.
i assume the suggested modules in your table are what are being used in the shms.

Dear Amrit,

As requested, check the email below.

Hello,

This morning HMS PLC was upgraded from version 16 to version 20, as follows:

    1. Installed RSLOGIX5000 v.20 and RSNetworx V27 on laptop "ccont01"
    2. Installed RSLOGIX5000 v20 and RSNetworx v27 on development computer " controls7".
    3. Updated firmware version for the controller (1756 L-62) from version 16. to version 20.
    4. Upgraded firmware version for Ethernet modules (ENBT) in the primary and secondary HMS PLC chassis. Versions upgraded from v 4.8 to version 6.6
    5. Verified firmware version running on Controlnet modules (CNB/D). Compared with latest version available from Rockwell, and found that there was not a new available firmware for this type of Controlnet modules (CNB/D).
    6. Verified firmware version for Redundancy modules (1757-SRM); version 5.3. Noticed that modules were old in comparison with redundancy modules used for SHMS.
    7. Generated HMS PLC ACD. program version 20. Program included all modification a configuration for PLC controller and ENBT module.
    8. Downloaded PLC program v20 in the PLC controller.
    9. Noticed issues to re-synchronize the redundancy modules.
We were able to run new HMS PLC program with version 20, but there was a fault due to the Redundancy modules (1757-SRM), which are not compatible with RSLOGIX v20, the highest RSLOGIX5000 version that is compatible with this redundancy modules is RSLOGIX version 16.
Since the problems in the redundancy configuration could not been solved due to its Redundancy hardware limitations, DSG had to return HMS PLC back to version 16.

Based on the results and Rockwell support, DSG strongly suggest the following PLC modules upgrades in order to have HMS PLC running in version 20:

Item # Quantity Current Module in use by HMS Suggested module to be acquired
1 2 1757-SRM/B (Redundancy) 1756-RM/A
2 1 1756-ENBT/A (Ethernet) 1756-EN2T/B
3 1 1756-CNB/D (ControlNet) 1756-CN2/B

Also having these new modules mentioned in the above table for the HMS PLC control systems will mimic SHMS PLC control systems and will make both spectrometers consistent.

After discussion about this matter with Steve Lassiter, he mentioned that he will check if Hall C will be able to buy these modules in order to upgrade HMS PLC before the starting of experimental operation in the Hall C.

Best Regards,
Pablo

Hello Steve/Mike,

To start with the upgrades, we are going to need the following:

1. Copy of the latest version of the HMS .ACD PLC program V16.
2. Access to laptop "ccont01" to install RSLOGIX5000 v20, and RSNetworx software. (Needed administrator of Laptop to log in or assign us administrator permissions)
3. Access to development computer "controls7". Needed a dministrator of computer to log in or assigns us administrator permissions for PLC software installations.
4. Ensure safe conditions (Cryogenics) before we'll take the PLC off online.

Please let us know.

Best Regards,
Pablo

Hi,

Is everyone available to update the firmware on the HMS PLC's tomorrow
morning with Steve, 7/19?

Also, we need the software updated on the development computer,
controls7, and on Steve's laptop, ccont01.

Cheers,
Mike
