Hi Steven,
Thanks for sending the SHMS code.

Hi Tyler,
The code is on the M: drive.
Do not place the file on the cloud or eqv. Keep it on a secure drive.

Hi Steven,
Apologies if you get several copies of this email, I had to send it a few times to get the mailing list to go through since the size of the email was getting to big.
Thanks for sending the vacuum code.
Could you also send us the entire SHMS code?
We will need it for other tasks to get a better understanding of the program as a whole and to generate the documentation we need to start SHMS programming tasks.

Hi Tyler,
Here is the code for the vacuum gauge.
The code for the standalone can be obtained by logging into the standalone PLC and downloading it.

Hi Steven,
Thank you for your reply.
It seems the starting point for the HMS vacuum control would be to look at the SHMS code. Could you send us the SHMS code? We do not have that yet.
Could you also send us the code that is currently on the standalone test PLC? You mentioned that that code was for a preliminary remote alarm notification system. Since remote alarms are also on DSG's task list, having that code would at least give us a general starting point and an idea of what has been tried already.
Best regards,
Tyler

Hi Tyler,
The HMS Spectrometer vacuum signal will be a 0-10V (or 4-20mA signal) coming from a standalone vacuum gauge within the hall. The signal will first go to a dataforth signal conditioner and then to a PLC IF16 I/O module. The gauge will be an Edwards wide range unit that can do both high and low vacuum ranges.
Which PLC I/O module it will go to depends on which chassis has an available input channel. The Dipole Chassis is used for cryo and extra sensor inputs, but it may be fully populated. The three quads have empty IF16 channels in their slot 7 I/O module.
Layout of both hardware and wiring will be needed for the techs to install.
Programing of the vacuum sensor can start by copying one of the SHMS's vacuum gauge routine. This routine covers errors and fault conditions that the unit can self report on.
There will be only one gauge for the HMS spectrometer vacuum, as it is common to all the HMS magnets.
This task can be combine with the HMS shutter status, which is also a new I/O input for the HMS and is a standalone type of input, not used by any of the magnets but needs to use one of the I/O chassis to get into the PLC. This status signal will be a two state indicator, open or close, which would require only one I/O channel.

Subject: [Dsg-hallc_controls] Hall C PLC task #4- Add HMS "spectrometer vacuum" controls
Hello Steven and Mike,
As Pablo mentioned in his task list from last Friday, I will start working on task #4 to add HMS "spectrometer vacuum" controls to the PLC.
I've started looking over the HMS PLC program and I have a few questions on the task:
1.) What is the main goal of this task? What vacuum controls need to be added?
2.) What instrumentation will be used for this task? Could you send manuals for all instrumentation that will be used?
Best regards,
Tyler
