The status of the field measurement is also required.

In simple terms the NMR has two states, Searching for the field and Locked. 
The power supply has two states, Ready and Not ready. 
Together the states determine the status of the NMR/PSU, with (Ready + Locked) the state required before sending regulation corrections to the PSU.
