hovannes,

you've been under a misapprehension.
i find no records of what you mention.
on the contrary, i vividly recall meetings, one with chudkov the other with stepanyan and carman (i do take contemporaneous notes), in which Dr. Rossi unequivocally refused to assign any particular dsg member to a detector or to be on call .
Dr. Rossi's opinion deferred the assignment of the task to me rather than to the external groups; the reason for this is because DSG supports 13 systems, and i, in her opinion, would be the appropriate person to assign dsg personnel their tasks.

in future, if hall d has a need for support, i suggest that that person e-mail the dsg_halld_plc mailing list as to what is required (this procedure is no different than putting in a ccpr or a plant services request.)
by doing so:
1. halld d personnel and dsg will have a record of the request (eliminates finger pointing and complaining)
2. i'll be in the loop and would be able decide who to assign the task to, so that the task gets accomplished asap.
3. it helps me keep a record of the problems encountered; this is being done already for the other hall.
4. it would indicate how imperative it is to use all dsg resources.
5. anecdotally, on the day you requested brian to come in, he had already, on the previous day fielded a hallb call in. so, informing me will preclude avoid double and triple call ins of a single person.

dsg's goal is to support the detectors and the magnets in the halls, and we've been doing a good job of it as far as i hear from
Dr. Rossi.
henceforth, use the mailing list.

Hi Amrit,

We appreciate the help DSG provides in support of our solenoid PXI system which is an important part of the solenoid,
and I personally am very satisfied with the help Brian Eng provides us with the solenoid and other controls components.
We in Hall D assume that Brian Eng is the primary person supporting the PXI DAQ for Hall D
which requires being available for calls 24/7 during running if there is a problem. That is a requirement
for almost all of our components, especially for solenoid considering its importance for the experiment.
When we have a problem, we (myself, Tim Whitlatch, or Beni Zihlmann) call that person in charge and not a large group
of people for help, especially if it is at night or during weekend. I am not sure what the content of the e-mail you are
requesting should be as I may not have received any e-mail from Patrizia since November of 2017.
Please, let me know what information you would like me to provide you regarding Brian's work.

I just checked that Amanda, Pablo, and Tyler are already on the list of invited people in the Zimbra for the bi-weekly slow controls
meetings in Hall D, and I just added Peter to the list (he was not on it). I can confirm that we do hold meetings every other Thursday,
but sometimes we skip them if there are circumstances that make the meeting impossible or ineffective. When
that happens, I cancel that meeting on the JLAB calendar. For instance, we should have one this Thursday, but we will skip
it because of the GlueX collaboration meeting from February 22 to February 24.

I am not sure if I am the right person to make official requests for help for manpower, but I know that we do need an
National Instruments Labview expert to support our PXI, and, if needed, based on our past experience we can estimate the amount
of effort in terms of FTE that is roughly expected for this. Again, my assumption is that there was an understanding reached a couple of years
ago that the primary person for PXI will be Brian Eng, that is he is the person we contact when we need help with PXI. If Brian was not or
is not anymore the primary contact person in charge of Hall D solenoid PXI, please let me, and more importantly Eugene, know so that we
find an acceptable solution.

Best regards,
Hovanes

hello hovanes,
i heard from brian that you requested him to work on the PXI system a while ago, on a weekend.
I heard from patrizia that despite her e-mail to you, elton, chudkov, (when she was in italy) to inform me, none of you took the time to e-mail me.
this is unacceptable.

recently, i heard brian had a meeting regarding PXI work.
i suggest that for such meetings you invite pete, tyler, pablo, and amanda as well.
This is because as the group leader for the dsg, i want all my staff, who support the hall d magnet, to be on the same page.
also, i don't think its right that halld gets to pick and choose people from dsg without my consent.

i was under the mistaken impression that you were holding regular monthly slow controls meetings, apparently i'm informed that this isn't the case anymore.
well be that as it may, i suggest that in future when Hall d requires help from a dsg staff member, i be kept in the loop.
i guess one would all this request, common courtesy.
amrit
