Hello Tim and Hovanes,
I won't be here next week when the next Hall D Slow Controls meeting is scheduled, so here is a status update on the conversion of the list of CSS screens to WEDM. Pablo, Peter, and I have discussed these so they should be able to talk about it some in the meeting. The ones we've done so far are listed below. The link to them is:
https://epicsweb.jlab.org/wedm/browse?dir=%2fcs%2fopshome%2fedm%2fdsg%2fhall_d
ComCal Environment
DIRC Environment
Main Gas System GUI
CDC Gas system
FDC gas system
Gas system solenoid valve monitor
hall temperature
Solenoid Cryo
Solenoid Interlocks
Solenoid strain gauges
Solenoid vacuum
Solenoid voltage taps
So far, 12 screens have been converted. The conversion is going a little slow since it turns out a few characteristics of the CSS screens make it so the WEDM screens have to be manually checked or rearranged:
* Some of the CSS screens (like DIRC environment and ComCal Environment) had to be manually rearranged and the widgets scaled to a reasonable size.
* This seems to be due to the CSS screens opening in a slightly zoomed out view.
* Some PVs (like all of the Solenoid coil voltage sums on the Voltage Taps screen, MPS Interlock SUM bit on the Interlocks screen, and all of the status bits on the MPS screen) are local PVs created by CSS and exist only in the CSS runtime environment.
* If it is okay that these PVs are missing, then there is nothing that needs to be done.
* If these PVs are needed, the they will have to be added to and EPICS IOC.
* Some CSS screens (like the Gas System Main screen and the screens for the chillers) use linking containers to automatically show other screens in CSS.
* When we found screens like this, we just found the screens that are linked in CSS (Like FDC, CDC, and Solenoid valve screens for the Gas System Main screen), converted those and then copied them to one single screen.
* Some CSS widgets, like thermometer graphics and gauges graphics, don't exist in WEDM.
* These widgets were just replaced with standard text indicators.
* WEDM does not do controls.
* For most all screens, there are controls.
* Since WEDM is read-only, the areas of the screens with controls were left empty.
The ability to use buttons to link to other screens will be investigated further once all of the screens that need to be linked are converted. We'll also arrange for accelerator to add a tab for these screens to their epicsweb menu.
With these considerations, we'll continue converting the remaining CSS screens to WEDM.
Best regards,
Tyler
