Amanda,
Got your message, thanks.
I tried to test the program yesterday afternoon but the Labview Project won't start. The error message, attached here, was always the same for the 4 to 5 tries I did. It said: There was a problem sending the command to the program. I don't know what caused the problem, but I am planing to reboot the computer (if you don't mind) and try again after 11:00, when my 9:30 meeting finishes. Please let me know if you have a different idea or not.
By the way, the displayed power was -53dBm. Was it the last number you set yesterday?
Thanks,
Xiangdong

Hi Xiangdong,
I took a look at the FRS program. I believe the problem (#1 and #2 from your list) was from an incorrect setting for the NMR/AFP switch; this has been corrected. Take a look at it and let me know if the program is still having issues.
Fixing the above problem seemed to make the third problem from your list more manageable. The scan still freezes temporarily at some spots, however not for long and the program did not crash.
Regards,
Amanda

Amanda,
I had a quick look of the FRS program yesterday and found a few issues. They may or may not be related to each other.
1. Each time after starting the FRS from the VI, the first scan always produced wrong result. The detected signal amplitude was around 10^-7 or 10^-8 V regardless the power setting, and the phase was fluctuating between -180 and +180 degrees. Please see the picture
"first_FRS scan_with_different_powers". The power settings were -63, -50, -30, -10, and 0dBm.
2. Any scan after the initial produced a normal looking spectrum. Please see "first_and_second_FRS_scans" and " first_and_second_FRS_scans_zoomed_in ". The first scans are on the left, and the second are on the right. The power settings were -63dBm, -30dBm, and 0 dBm.
The issue may be related to the program initialization. On the other rack, most parameters of the FRS program use last setting as defaults, except for RF power---which is always reset to -63dBm to avoid accidental target depolarization. The default value for the power should be always -63 dBm and confirmed after FRS program was loaded in.
3. Some times the scan stuck at hunting the correct sensitivity windows, and the only way to move on was to use Windows Task Manager to kill the program.
Since it was seen a few times for the other rack also in the past, it was not unique. It may be caused by some timing mismatch or wrong logic, I think. Please take a look.
Further tests will be conducted later.
Please let me know if you have any question.
Thanks,
Xiangdong

Amanda,
I'm in the process to replace the NMR rack monitors now. The rack is done. The rack 2 monitor will be ready in a few days. We can replace the small monitor next week.
Thanks,
Xiangdong

Hi,
We are planning to put a temporary table with a computer monitor next to Rack 2 in the lab. It will be easier to read and debug the NMR program with a larger screen.
Thanks,
Amanda
