[dsg-hdice] Emergency!!! Please help to fix the nmr rack 1

I’ve just rebooted the pc.

I got the HDice user login and was able to get to the package manager.

I can't seem to login using the hdice account on that computer either.

Xiangdong,

I am not admin on HDICENMR1 so I can't do anything to re-install the serial drivers. If you can log on and make my user account an admin, I can try to reinstall the drivers, otherwise we'll have to wait until computer center can grant the privileges.

If you, Tom, or someone else are admin, in the mean time, you can use the NI Package Manager to see if NI Serial drivers are installed and then install the drivers from there if needed.

Hi Xiangdong,

I didn’t see your email until now.

I will take a look. It probably is that the NI serial drivers need to be reinstalled on the PC.

I will let you know what I find.

Hi Tyler,

The rs232 and 485 to usb converters on the rack1 were not functioning after we rebooted the pc an hour ago. The lights on the converters were off or wrong color, like the problems on rack2 a few months ago. I remember you told me that the windows upgrade messed up the settings of the rs232 converter, and you had to manually change them...

Could you please take a look really soon, so we can proceed to transfer the polarized target from DF into pd for nmr work, and into IBC tomorrow? The pictures of error messages are attached here.

Tom will go to lab to run nmr, when you finish the fix.

If we could not get the target into UITF by Thursday, we’ll lose the entire thanksgiving week beam time—-the accelerator department has scheduled to provide beam 3 shifts/day for the week. The concrete rooftops have to be on before Neal Wilson’s crew takes vacation after Friday.
