Sebastian,

It is difficult to say, without knowing the cables you did identify already.

However, if my memory does not fail me this wire is indeed for the field cage. The upstream cage was disconnected from the very beginning of the run because it was not working. I would not be able to remember what malfunction exactly, it is probably somewhere in the logbook. So it might have been a short or a disconnection, either way I am pretty sure to remember we drilled this hole in the back plane for the field cage.

On Wed, Apr 13, 2016 at 10:26 PM, kuhn <kuhn@jlab.org> wrote:

Dear EG6ers,

I had a stupid question about your RTPC (which, as you know, is presently being pressed back into service here at ODU):

We found one cable that was dangling without being attached to anything on the circuit board on the chamber. I am enclosing some pictures below. As you can see, this cable seems to be going through the metal front face of the RTPC, but we cannot ascertain what it is connected to inside. (One suspicion is that it may be connected to the innermost field guard ring on that face, but we cannot find any non-infinite-resistance connection to any other point on the circuit board). The cable looks like it was torn off some connector (or maybe a solder joint failed), but there is no obvious spot anywhere near its reach where it could have been connected. When we received the chamber from Stepan, someone had wrapped a yellow tape around the blank end and “tucked” it away underneath a HV cable.

Anyway, if you have any idea what this cable might (should) be connected to, please let us know.

Thanks - Sebastian

This shows the cable how it appeared when we got the RTPC (with the yellow tape).

Here is the same perspective after removing the yellow tape. The cable in question is the slightly blurry one on top (near the red HV cable). From the location, it most likely would be connected to either the cathode or the innermost “guard ring”.

On Apr 13, 2016, at 6:38 AM, Nathan Baltzell <baltzell@jlab.org> wrote:

Hello Everyone,

We will have our weekly meeting today, April 13, at 10:00 in L210.

Here's a preliminary agenda (and feel free to add to it):
https://clasweb.jlab.org/rungroups/lowq/wiki/index.php/Meeting_on_April_13,_2016_@_10:00AM

Bluejeans meeting instructions:

URL:
https://bluejeans.com/151158041/

Dial In:
+1 408 740 7256 or +1 888 240 2560
then the meeting ID followed by #:
151158041##

-Nathan
_______________________________________________
Eg6_analysis mailing list
Eg6_analysis@jlab.org
https://mailman.jlab.org/mailman/listinfo/eg6_analysis

_______________________________________________
