I am enclosing some pictures below. As you can see, this cable seems to be going through the metal front face of the RTPC, but we cannot ascertain what it is connected to inside. (One suspicion is that it may be connected to the innermost field guard ring on that face, but we cannot find any non-infinite-resistance connection to any other point on the circuit board). The cable looks like it was torn off some connector (or maybe a solder joint failed), but there is no obvious spot anywhere near its reach where it could have been connected. The cable in question is the slightly blurry one on top (near the red HV cable).
