A message from Katherine Wilson, EIC Deputy Associate Project Manager

[4CC6B9D5]As the year comes to a close, we would like to thank all of you for your support of the EIC project.  Your efforts have helped us progress designs, build and test hardware, showcase our work to the DOE and the science community, and make the excellent progress that we accomplished in 2024.

Looking forward to 2025, we can expect another busy year on EIC.  Before the January Independent Project Review, the project will develop a concept for splitting the project into subprojects, which has been done on a number of other large DOE projects.  By utilizing subprojects, we can make early progress on the project while allowing other subprojects more time to develop.  Understanding the scope of the first subproject will provide clarity as to our priorities for the next year.  It will also help us move towards Critical Decisions 2 and 3, which will provide long-term assurances of project funding and authorize execution of the full subproject scope.

For now, we operate within the budget allowed by the Congressional continuing resolution, which does support our planned work and permit us to continue to hire for critical positions.  We hope that a federal budget will be passed - probably after the government transition - which provides additional margin for procurements and hiring for the rest of the year.

And so, as we head into the winter shutdown, we wish all of you a safe and happy holiday season!

Holiday Shutdown

[83761CBD]Jefferson Lab will be closed from Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, through Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

JLab will reopen on Thursday, January 2, 2025.

JLab staff must declare Monday, Dec. 23, Tuesday, Dec. 24th, Thursday, Dec. 26th, and Friday, Dec. 27th as vacation days or as Leave Without Pay (LWOP)

Children's Holiday Party
JLab staff, scientific users, contractors and their families are invited to the JAG Annual Children's Holiday Party. The event will be held in CEBAF Center on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be lots of crafts, games and prizes, bouncing, balloons and Santa. Food and refreshments will also be provided. JAG will also be holding our annual Toys for Tots drive. We ask that families attending bring a new unwrapped toy to the party.
