A message from Jim Fast, EIC Associate Project Manager

[cid:image016.png at 01DAC97A.11D18DB0]We expect that all remaining FY24 funds will be received in July, allowing us to continue planned EIC work.  We are planning work for FY25 on the assumption that FY25 funding will be similar to FY24, although there is no final word on that yet.  In the annual funding cycle, the House markup for FY25 is anticipated this week, and there is no word on the timeline for the Senate markup.

A formal review of the design of the Rapid Cycling Synchrotron and associated Electron Injector was conducted this week.  The project proposed a design which would address and reduce some of the technical risks on the RCS, including a newly-developed injection scheme.  The proposal was endorsed by the review committee.  Next, the design will be developed in more detail and presented to the Technical Change Control Board and the project Change Control Board later this summer for approval.  The final design may involve changes to magnets, cryomodules, and cryoplant scope, and the system managers are therefore involved in the ongoing design discussions.
