Dear JLab Colleagues:
I want to thank Joe Matalevich for a continued job well done in leading the design of the Electron Ion Collider first article 591 MHz cryomodule. Under Joe's leadership the cryomodule beam line sting assembly finished its first of 2 final design reviews with the committee agreeing to the start of our long lead procurement plan. Joe will continue in this role to finish the associated cryomodule clean string designs and the cryomodule design for the final FDR in December 2025.
Gary Cheng will immediately take on the role of L3/CAM (Control Account Manager - L3) for the cryomodule long lead procurements and Joe's deputy on the CD-3A Associated Design scope to finish delivering the procurement documentation necessary for the procurements and fabrications. Gary's more than 20 years of experience on challenging and complex SRF cryomodule delivery more than qualifies him for this role. Gary will direct the work on all EIC first article cryomodule procurement scope from award through final acceptance testing.
Please join me in thanking Gary for taking on this role and help ensure that Gary is successful in this endeavor.
Best,
Zack
EIC RF Systems Manager
