<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">Happy Fall! Here are some important highlights as we begin the new fiscal year. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt"> </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">On September 26, President Biden signed a bill approving a 12-week Continuing Resolution (CR) passed by Congress. The CR provides funding for the federal government through December 20, 2024. We can keep
the project moving forward work but must prioritize new hires for the next few months as we navigate budget constraints. We remain hopeful that will secure FY25 funding near the Senate Mark of $138M. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt"> </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">I am happy to announce that as of October 1<sup>st</sup>, Bill Wahl joined the EIC Project and Directorate as the IR Superconducting Magnet Production Manager. Bill will be responsible for the delivery of
the EIC IR SC magnets and supporting systems. Bill has decades of experience in mechanical engineering and project management, including 13 years at BNL. We continue to evolve and strengthen the organization as we prepare for next phase of the project.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt"> </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">As a part of the BNL staff planning efforts, a Position Review Board was established and chaired by the BNL Chief Human Resource Officer. The board coordinates staff planning between RHIC and EIC. A notable
example is the transfer of the C-AD Design Group to the EIC Design Group on October 1<sup>st</sup>. Work for C-AD by this group is covered via MOUs. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt"> </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">The last month includes several important meetings and reviews including: Infrastructure Construction Advisory Committee Meeting on Oct. 2-3, 2024; EIC Advisory Board Meeting on Oct. 11; Director's Review
in support of Critical Decision (CD)-3B on Oct. 22-24, 2024; regular meetings of the EIC IR Superconducting Magnet Steering Group meetings; and, the ongoing design reviews. </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt"> </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">We will host the EIC Resource Review Board and EIC Advisory Board Meetings on November 12-13, 2204. All major external meeting and reviews will wrap up before the holidays. The DOE OPA CD-3B Independent
Project Review (IPR) on January 7-9<sup>th</sup> at BNL. Our goal is to finish preparations for this important DOE review by the beginning of December to clear the way for downtime before the IPR.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt"> </span><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="xmsonormal"><span style="font-size:14.0pt">The detailed plan for 2025 is in preparation and, no surprise, the calendar will be as full as 2024! I will elaborate on these plans and summarize the results of the Director’s Review in my next Project
Update.</span><o:p></o:p></p>
