<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Cambria",serif;color:black">As a follow-up to Ann Emrick’s, BNL Deputy Director for Operations, announcement last month regarding the appointment of Bill Wahl as the new EIC Portfolio Manager, I am pleased to share
that, effective October 1, 2025, Paolo Ferracin of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) will assume the role of IR SC Magnet System Manager.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Cambria",serif;color:black"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Cambria",serif;color:black">Paolo brings more than 25 years of experience in the accelerator community, with significant contributions to both research and large-scale projects, including the LHC Accelerator Research
Program (LARP) and the CERN HL-LHC Project, where he held key technical leadership positions. Over the past 18 months, he has served as a member of the EIC Magnet Steering Group (MSG), providing invaluable guidance to Bill and the broader IR SC magnet team.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Cambria",serif;color:black"><o:p> </o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family:"Cambria",serif;color:black">While Paolo will remain an employee of LBNL for the foreseeable future, he will dedicate the majority of his time to overseeing the successful delivery of the EIC IR SC magnets, encompassing
design, planning, and construction. I am pleased to note that Bill has agreed to provide ongoing support to Paolo during the transition period, ensuring a smooth handover of responsibilities.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
