Engineering Division Staff:

On the morning of Thursday, December 15th we will have a 4-hour
stand down in order to reorganize and clean up our work areas and
offices. Over the last eight months we have all made a significant
effort toward the 12GeV upgrade and the recovery of the accelerator
and experimental end stations. Naturally during that time our work
areas and offices have become cluttered with stacks of paper, spare
parts, equipment waiting for the next use, etc.

Over the last quarter we have been seeing more instances of "poor
housekeeping" being cited in safety observations and well as area
inspections, and I certainly have observed the same thing. As you
know, poor house keeping is often a precursor to worse things about
to happen and as seen in Mont's recent all hands meeting we are not
on a good trend line.

Many of us also have the impending move to TEDF early next year so
we can use this time to throw out waste material or to send excess
JLab equipment to Property Management.

So, we will officially start this effort at 8:30 after the usual
morning rituals and MCC status meeting. Those arriving early can
start as soon as possible. Supervisors - I expect you to
organize the efforts in your separate areas and coordinate trash
barrel emptying. Let's do this safely (plan your work and be
especially aware of lifting), efficiently and "ruthlessly".
Ruthlessly in the sense of " if you haven't used it lately then why
not throw it out." After cleaning my office I will be out and
around to see how things are going.

Thanks for your help,
Excess Property:

The North Access Building high bay area will be available as a
central drop-off point for your excess property. Special bins will
be located there to secure your items.
Remember - If it has a property tag, you must fill out the proper
paperwork or online form, but non-tagged item can just be dropped
off.

Metal waste:

Heavy duty hoppers are located behind Bldg. 36 and in front of Bldg.
08 for scrap metal of any type. These are not to be used for chairs
or desks - metal only please.

Trash and Recyclables:

NOTE: Although you will be provided with bins for trash these
containers must be transported to and dumped in the central
recycling center by your group. You may leave the cans at that
location when you're done. An additional truck with Tommy Gate will
be available for this purpose.

Additional large trash and recycle bins will be located in the
following buildings to handle the extra refuse.

Bldg. 87 & 89 (2 each- general trash can and recycle can)

Bldg. 36 Rm. 102 & 109 (2 separate locations for this bldg.)

Trailer 10 (2 each- general trash can and recycle can)

Trailer 01A (1 each- general trash can and recycle can)

Bldg 59 (1 each- general trash can and recycle can)

Bldg 8A (1 each- general trash can and recycle can)

Please contact Henry Robertson or Tina Menefee for additional
material handling needs.
