<span class="leftmost">A_Freyberger</span>
Today the heat detector circuit that is one part of the fire protection
system failed for the NW corner of the machine. The failure means that
the region of the machine that includes the Inj and NL do not have heat
protection and the fire pull alarms in this section of the tunnel are
non-functional.
There are two remaining layers of fire protection: Vesda smoke detection
and sprinkler system.
The failed systems will be repaired at the next available opportunity.
In the meantime, if you are in the tunnel under a controlled access and
observe a fire. Inform those around you, exit immediately and inform the
crew chief. The plan is to have this system repaired at the next
controlled access, so the system should be repaired soon after the segment
is brought to the controlled access state.
Additional information: The YR fire was detected by Vesda, not the heat
detection system. The heat from the YR fire was insufficient to trip the
sprinkler system and the heat detection system.
