Subject: Next gaseous detectors seminar, this Wednesday!
Dear Kondo,
Could you share the information below, please? The next seminar is this Wednesday.
In a nutshell: TPC and neural network

Dear all,
Our next seminar is this Wednesday!
You can find more details below about the speaker and the topic.
Title: Gaseous Detector with Germanium Tagging (GADGET)
Speaker: Chris Wrede, Michigan State University and Facility for Rare Isotope Beams
Abstract: The Gaseous Detector with Germanium Tagging (GADGET) is used for low-energy nuclear astrophysics experiments at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) on the campus of Michigan State University. The current iteration (GADGET II) includes a compact time projection chamber (TPC) based on a resistive Micromegas readout surrounded by an array of high purity germanium detectors. Fast, fragmented beams of neutron-deficient radioactive ions provided by FRIB are thermalized in the active volume of the TPC. Subsequent beta decays can populate unbound states of the daughter nuclei, which emit gammas, protons, alpha particles, or in rare cases multiple particles. Charged-particle emission to the ground state is the inverse of resonant particle capture in explosive astrophysical environments providing essential information on the thermonuclear reaction rates. The TPC images the charged-particle tracks in three dimensions and identifies the particles based on range and energy. The Ge array detects gamma rays flagging less relevant charged-particle emissions to excited states. A convolutional neural network has been implemented to search for rare events and enhance particle identification in the TPC.

The next seminar is also scheduled, I'll send more details later. It's Wednesday April 2nd at 3 pm.
Hope to see you there!
