[Esr-users] Full Load Test of ESR, Halls A, B, C with magnets and Targets

All,
The CHL and CHLII are currently pumped down to 2K and are scheduled to remain that way through the end of the year. The configuration is slightly different than what we have had in the past so the exact amount of transfer line supplemental 4K is unknown. As the plants settle and we adjust to the orientation, we will have a better understanding of the 4K availability from CHL. We will know more by mid/late next week.

Subject: [Esr-users] Full Load Test of ESR, Halls A, B, C with magnets and Targets
Hi All,
In the interest of having a successful run in December, I would like to hear your opinion of running everything needed for the December run next week.
Hall B already has a plan to run both the Torus and Solenoid on Friday 11/17.
I know that the Hall A target can't be run before Dec 3 or 4 because of safety rules that have been written and approved.
We would need all magnets at full field with full field lead flow and a target to simulate the 15K load on the ESR
The questions are:
1) Is this a good idea?
2) Can all the Halls ramp their magnets to full current starting early Friday morning and have them to full current by 11:00 or noon?
3) Can the target group run the Hall C target to nominal operating power plus the expected power required to run the Hall A target (including known or estimated transferline losses)
4) Will the CHL be in such a state that ESR can be supported by CHL
It seems to me that we might want to do the test on Thursday vs Friday, so if there is a trip or other issue Friday can be used for recovery if needed.
Thanks
Dave
