Subject: Re: Update
Our contracting people conference called with management from AirGas today and received promises to meet our LN2 needs. The company is still struggling and will have to reduce deliveries to others in order to support us. I will also say that we have received several promises from them over the last few weeks that were broken so I will believe it when I don't have to think about nitrogen deliveries anymore. This is however a positive sign because we are being dispatched by a VP now so they seem to understand the urgency.
On a second path last night I called a friend over at NASA who is associated with the transonic wind tunnel which has its own air separation plant. We worked numerous phone calls through his management chain last night. Today me, Steve Suhring, and the Air Gas bulk distribution leader Alex Martinez met with the heads of the transonic facility, the air sep plant, and their contracting officer. It was an incredibly productive meeting (and we got a tour of the wind tunnel). We are setting in place an immediate agreement where Air Gas will be able to go to NASA and load product from the transonic facility dewar and bring it to JLab when Airgsas is short.
A second agreement is also being discussed where AG might buy extra product from NASA and deliver it to their customers through the end of next summer to help alleviate their plant problems.
We warmed up the ESR 15K circuit today but will recool it in the morning for the Hall C target.
We throttled back the CTF plant today but will restore it to normal operating conditions and allow the VTA to restart testing tomorrow.
More to follow.
J
