[Esr-users] CHL / ESR Helium Losses

Attached is a plot of combined CHL1 (LHe Dewar, Gas Tanks) and ESR (LHe
Dewar, Hall cryostats) helium inventory for the winter break period.

-          During the first week of the winter break combined loss rate was
~ 180 liter/day. This data matches up with known loss rates from the two
systems (combined).

-          During the second week of the winter break (28-Dec-17 onwards)
combined loss rate was ~ 280 liter/day. This 100 liter/day increase aligns
with the time the ESR LHe dewar liquid level started depleting. Clearly, not
all the helium from the ESR dewar is returning to the CHL gas tanks.

 

Please check your systems / equipment at the experimental halls for any sign
of leak. Cryo personnel is actively checking the cryo-plant (ESR) for
potential leaks.
