Hi All,
I would like to take this SAD opportunity to possibly reduce the helium leak rate of the 3 Halls.
I request that each Hall do the following:
1) Setup plots with at minimum one pressure transducer on each major component for real time monitoring.
2) With the assistance of CRYO, close both warm return valves MV6060X and MV6031X (where X is A, B, or C)
3) Pressurize the full helium circuit of all magnets, transferlines, warm gas returns to 1.4 atmospheres then shut off the supply at ESR (again with CRYO support)
4) Monitor the pressure
5) Make a logbook entry of the pressure vs time plots ( I will make estimates of the helium loss rate)
We may find it necessary to repeat this test several or many times to localize leaks so we can save time and use less "Snoop".
If anyone has questions about how to do this for their hall or needs additional hands to do the work, please let me know.
I hope we can all do this over the next 2-3 weeks.
Thanks
Dave
