Scott,
Sometimes they seem to want a continuously-tunable energy range (although how much of the continuum is still being quantified), which I suggested accomplishing by a combination of selecting different turns and reducing the linac energy. e.g. in last year's baseline I had 925-1090MeV linac energy range.
There's also the question of how practical a 1200MeV linac upgrade is.

I’m afraid I missed the meeting last week. A couple thoughts on the notes and subsequent discussions:
* Would we not satisfy the tunability requirements by just selecting different extraction turns? Doing so would probably (?) require a physical manipulation, so would that be too slow? I suppose I could imagine extraction dipoles in the splitter lines, but that would be dependent on having space for it.
* You may find that optimizing for magnet cost is as good or better than optimizing for radiation. When I went through the exercise for the eRHIC design, there was virtually no radiation penalty for a cost-optimal design, but the fractional cost penalty for a radiation-optimized design was much higher.

Hello colleagues!
Thanks for an exciting meeting. I think we can all look forward to what will grow out of this exchange. You’ll find the minutes attached to this email, as well as uploaded to the shared folder.
Have a great weekend, and we’ll talk again next week.
Cheers!
Ryan
