Dear Colleagues,

I see that Donish is listed on the schedule as working on design work, and looking at the previous minutes from last week (when I was on travel), it appears he was also tasked with other design work on the electromagnetic arcs.

Donish is currently funded by our LDRD, and given the rules tied to such funding at the lab, he must be working on the agreed upon milestones and deliverables which are on record with LDRD management and the US DOE. Design work is *not* in the scope of our LDRD, and this point has been reiterated in quarterly update meetings with the LDRD managers. He is moving along very nicely with the LDRD work, but there is a lot left to finish before the end of the fiscal year – easily a full time job. We cannot afford to spare him for outside tasks right now, since the timeline is aggressive but achievable.

This was also agreed upon prior Donish’s arrival. Please see the screenshot of the email from Todd below (from October 5th):

I must insist that we do not “mix colors of money and tasks” until the LDRD is complete at the end of this fiscal year. Any time spent on other tasks is mixing funding, or taking him away from the designated tasks agreed upon in the LDRD, thus impacting both the timetable of the deliverables AND the budget of the LDRD.

If you have questions on the deliverables, and what constitutes the work scope of the LDRD, please feel free to ask me.

Sincerely,
Ryan
