<p class="MsoNormal">I think reducing the R56 range is generally a big win, large R56 correction is usually difficult and often requires very strong focusing. ToF probably doesn’t matter so much, you’ll likely find that you’re inserting extra wavelengths in
some of your lines anyhow. PMs in the splitter lines can be good if it helps manage space. You still need enough flexibility in electromagnetic quadrupoles to make your matches. You have to watch out with quadrupoles to ensure that it doesn’t ultimately limit
your ability to make certain changes in your matching.<o:p></o:p></p>

For example the sort of FDFDF "complex bend" Dejan was showing a picture of could allow bending without the dispersion getting too high.<br><br>The thing I think might be hard to solve that way is R56 (TOF is OK overall because separate lines).<br><br>I should mention I had an alternative lattice "B" in my IPAC24 paper that reduced the TOF and R56 by over a factor of two from the baseline, even with linear magnets, by using a slightly shorter cell. One of the nonlinear field solutions does even better even with a long cell.
