Hi,

During one of our FROST meetings, it was suggested that ASU provide a
CLAS-note regarding the phase-space scale factors. We have now completed a
draft of the requested CLAS-note that can be found at
http://www.jlab.org/~dugger/g9/g9a/sfDraft/sfNote.pdf
that can also be found on my g9 analysis page at
http://clasweb.jlab.org/rungroups/g9/wiki/index.php/Mike%27s_analysis_page

Comments and suggestions are welcome.

It should be noted that the figures and numbers provided in the draft will
most likely change once the momentum and energy corrections have been
determined. At this stage, the systematic uncertainties are typically less
than 2%. It is our hope that, once the momentum and energy corrections are
implemented, the systematics will become even smaller.

I have made available the ROOTBEER code used in making the scale factors,
as well as, the code that creates the mass histograms.

The code, and instructions on running the code can be found on my
g9 analysis page at
http://clasweb.jlab.org/rungroups/g9/wiki/index.php/Mike%27s_analysis_page

I chose not to modify the code (other than remove some comments that
would make sense only to me). I thought about making the code more
easy to follow, but that would risk my introducing errors. The code, as
is, should reproduce the same results that I obtained in the CLAS-note
draft.

I decided not to release all of the ROOT macros that I used in creating
the plots shown in the document. One reason for this omission is that the
code was not designed to be user friendly and would take some discussion
as to how the macros are run and how they should be modified to obtain
each individual plot. Another reason for not including these macros is
that I am not sure that anyone would care to have them. If anyone wants
the macros I can make them available.

Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,
Michael
