[G12] Building against clasEvent with Centos 6.2

Greetings,

I build a code against clasEvent using the new Centos machines and I get 
warning I do not see with the 5.2 machines.

Warning:
In function 'int DropList(int)':
Ppp_cE.cc:107:53: warning: deprecated conversion from string constant to 
'char*' [-Wwrite-strings]

Also, I have noticed that there is a major delay in building using scons 
in the Centos 6.2 interactive nodes. To attempt to build a code requires 
over 5 minutes of waiting, while building it on the old machines takes 
less then 1 minute.

Is this the new normal?
