Hi Alessandra,
Nice slides. I'm sure your presentation went well.
As to the question of why the polarization was "so low": you talked about reactions on a proton target. The original focus of g14 was reactions on polarized neutrons, in deuterium. The HD is produced with about 60% H polarization, together with a small D polarization (about 10 - 15%, depending on the gas purity). We then used an RF transition to increase the D polarization by transferring spin from H to D. H is spin 1/2 and D is spin 1, so roughly one needs to lose 40% P(H) to gain 20% P(D). So by the time data taking started, P(H) had dropped a lot.

Yes sure, the angle is the same for all.
You need to change the signs of all spins, though, if the angle is negative, which means that the signs of Pz and Pzdot are reversed for negative angles, and this makes Pz odd by construction. This is consistent with a paper by A2 (I will pass it over to you shortly).
No reaction from the audience (all more asleep than myself), Dan Watts was happy with it.
I was only asked by Hartmut Schmieden why our target polarization, even in our better case, is so low… which answer, honestly, I invented :-)
Which is the real reason?
Hear from you soon
