<div><br></div><div>Dear Colleague,</div><div><br></div><div>As you know, the polarized target magnet was damaged during a recent quench. The target group has advised to replace the coil package with the similar helmholtz set from Hall B, and we are very pleased to report that this request has been approved. </div>
<div><br></div><div>Given the target group's estimates, we anticipate that E08-027 can reach all physics goals at four of the (originally planned) five Q2 bins. E08-007 can complete the low Q2 measurement of GE/GM but loses the planned overlap with previous measurements at large Q2. We are somewhat fortunate that the jeopardized kinematics required a disproportionately large number of calendar days due to the drop in scattering rate at larger angle, and the time required to remove the septa magnets and reposition the target.</div>
<div><br></div><div>The schedule is naturally still in flux, but we expect it's likely that the beamline and detector commissioning will commence in <b>December</b> in order to reduce conflicting with the target installation. This leaves little time to finalize and checkout all subsystems, so we want to encourage you to please keep your preparations on schedule. </div>
<div><br></div><div>thanks for your continued interest and support of these two experiments! </div><div><br></div><div>-Karl, for the spokesmen of g2p/GEp</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><br clear="all">
