Having had a chance to finally look at the rest of section 2, Ken, I
think the way you derived the expression you show in Figure 5 (from
equations 2 onward) nicely encapsulates the effects I was trying to crib
into the incoherent flux with a single factor based on radiation damage.
I don't think anyone should have a major problem with that
semi-empirical approach. 

As Mike and I discussed afterward, however, that approach most certainly
will affect the results of the "overlap study" Mike developed. So that
will need to be re-done with the "improved" polarization calculations
when those are available.
