Dear Xiaochao,
first, congratulations on being elected APS fellow!
I’m glad to see that there is (slow) progress on the pi paper. I glanced briefly at the comments you got - they don’t sound too unreasonable, but certainly like quite a bit of work is needed. I wish someone (from CLAS!) could help you with some of this - I am myself battling to get out 3 papers so I really don’t have the time.
Just to give you the overall frame: Once you respond to the AHC with a new version of the paper and replies to their comments, they get another look to decide (hopefully) that the paper is ready for collaboration review. (If not, there could be a further round of comments, changes and replies…) The collaboration review is also when people will be asked to “opt in” for the paper, so you don’t have to worry about that just now. (I’ll be happy to help you with the final author list if nobody else can do it). During the collaboration review, every eligible CLAS member can decide whether to be on the paper, but also can send more comments. You don’t HAVE to accept all of them, but you do need to respond to them (including further changes to the paper if warranted). The AHC is the final arbiter whether all reasonable comments have been reasonably addressed, and then they sign off on the paper going to the publisher. (There is a short period of “name check” where CLAS collaborators have a last chance to check their name is on the paper - or not, as they wished - and properly spelled with the correct affiliation).
After that, you need to submit the paper to the JLab library (as with all papers, that’s not CLAS-specific). I just send an email to Kim Edwards with the paper attached.
Then you are ready to submit - first I would suggest to the arXive, then to PRC. Keep in mind that (at least last time I checked) you have to put the whole paper into a single, self-contained ReVTeX4.1 file - including all citations. I also found that all figures should be labeled “Figure1” etc., to make it easier to swap them later on. Finally, all figures have to reside in the same folder as the paper itself - no “../plots/…” subdirectories (which can’t be reproduced on the arXive and PRC servers).
You are probably aware of those later issues, but I find that even after dozens of publications, these last steps always cause me more grief.
Good luck, and full speed ahead - Sebastian

Meanwhile, if there is anything collaboration-wise that I should take care of (how does author opt-in work? if I take care of all these comments and upload another version will it mean the ad-hoc committee will likely approve it and thus leads to submitting the paper to PRC?), please remind me.
