Hi All,

I am pleased to inform you that finally the CLAS reconstruction
software, recsis or user_ana, is running successfully as a 64 bit
executable. I had a tremendous communication last week and this week
with the JLab IT people (begging them to install the missing 32 bit lib.
and dependencies on centOS7 even that turned out to be cumbersome sine
RHEL 7 is not supporting anymore 32 bit comp. libs and all messing
components had to be installed manually!) and the Hall-B folks, Stepan,
Nathan B, and Will P.

To make the story short, after I was given some SVN viewer that allowed
me to go through all SVN commits that occurred to CLAS6 software since
2010 I was able to figure out the 64 bit incompatibility issues and
update the EG4 software with.

After these updates, the whole simulation chain worked successfully
interactively and in batch mode. Our 64 bit exec., as indicated in my
EG4 wiki-link, are under: /home/claseg4/software/bin/LinuxRHEL7/.

Best,

Lamiaa

    Hi Alexandre and all,

I want just to inform you that I won't attend tomorrow meeting.
As for the centos 7 issue with running user_ana, it's still under
investigation. I am in communication with several persons in JLab.
There are two options either convert the codes to be able to compile
and run successfully in 64 bit machine. The problem here is not with
the compilation but with running and producing
the expected results. This work is major and no estimation on how
much effort may need since the current log of the clas6 svn trunk
doesn't contain any detailed information about how
this conversion was done over the last 7 years to the clas6 software
to be able to apply it to our old release version. The other option,
is to produce 32 bit executable in centos7 similarly
to what I did in 2014/2015 with centos 6. The issue in this case is
the 64 bit distribution in centos 6 contained all necessary 32 bit
links, libs, include files...etc in contrast with centos 7.
I am currently trying to identify what is missing in centos7 to see
if it could be installed. Also no estimation how much effort that
may need and who could take care of the missing part
    at JLab. Still asking!

In any case the collaboration meeting is next week and I am coming
to JLab. Hopefully the direct communication may speed up this
process, if it's still not resolved till then.

    Thank you,

    Lamiaa
