USQCD Proposal
There was discussion of what to include in the USQCD proposal. Two items were highlighted: the gluon distribution, and pion physics, and in particular the DA and PDF. For the former, SZ argued that there would be an advantage to working at the smaller value of beta = 6.5 and the 270 MeV lattices, the same lattices as proposed in the ALCC proposal, amongst others. For the pion DA, RGE noted that the same solution vectors were already computed for the nucleon genprop, and KO that we should include the appropriate genprops in all our subsequent analysis. DGR would aim to send first draft on Thursday.
Tensor Charge and Transversity
NK gave an update on the transversity distribution, and in particular a comparison of the summation vs "plateaux" fitting procedures with two-exponential fits. The latter seemed more precise, though there was some discussion as to whether there was an inconsistency between the two methods at large p. JWQ and AR led a discussion regarding the normalization of the operator in the pseudo-PDF, as opposed to quasi-PDF, frameworks, and in particular in perturbation theory and non-perturbatively. SZ made a plea to AR not to give the game away so the ETMC collaboration could publish pseudo-PDF results!
AOB
• DGR reported that a kick-off meeting between hadstruc and JAM would take place Friday at 830am, and listed the BJ joining information on the GitHub wiki front page for those who would like to join.
• CK reported that he was awaiting to hear about his DIS talk.
• CE reported problems with tape where data was missing, and had submitted a CCPR; DGR had had similar problems, but for a case where the data was quick to reproduce. It was a apparently a manufacturer rather than software problem; RGE said this had been noted before for experimental data, but this was the first time he had heard of the problem for lattice data.
• DGR reported that ANL was aiming to start a biweekly lattice hadron structure journal club.
Next Meeting
Wednesday 10th March, 9am.
