[halla_compton] Compton DAQ -- what Bob said

Compton DAQ -- Bob's perspective -- Aug 22, 2019

I can work 25% of my time on this. I think Alex can, too.

Independent of CMU DAQ, self-contained, has photons and electrons.

Photons

Used a JLab Flash ADC to read the photon signal

Passively split photon signal, one copy to new cnt-mode DAQ,
                                    other copy to CMU DAQ.

This worked about 3 years ago (not as sophisticated as CMU DAQ)

             Saw pulse-height spectrum

             Asymmetries

For electron detector, we plan to use VETROC.

VETROC was not yet deployed in the counting-mode DAQ, but

VETROC is being used in the GRINCH detector.
(Scott Barcus, Ben Raydo, Alex, Bob)

Can transfer VETROC experience to new DAQ.

Significant software work needs to be done. The analyzer largely
non-existent except for fragments to look at FADC
                  and VETROC data.

Bob

Subject: Re: [halla_compton] Hall A Compton meetings Wednesday and Thursday

Hi everyone -

Reminder that there will be another meeting today to discuss plans for
trying to use the electron detector during CREX. We will meet in F226
again at 11 am - same Bluejeans information as yesterday.

I did not put an agenda on the wiki, but I expect the main topics to be:

1. Detectors - what will we use/test? When will they be ready for
testing at JLab.
2. DAQ readiness/preparations
3. Analysis?
4. Workforce - who is available to work on this

Regards,
Dave
