If you're waiting for an answer from me, I can't say whether its better or faster to do this at JLab. My opinion is that 2 weeks is ok as long as it doesn't prevent us from buttoning up the vacuum by the deadline that Jessie and Thia require. I don't know how much of your work interferes with buttoning up vacuum. Maybe Dave can tell us the deadline (early November, right ?), and I am sure we don't want to break vacuum during the Christmas break, its too risky. But if your work is independent of that deadline, then 2 weeks seems fine to me.

Hello,
We have a quote for the adapter boards. The lead time on the boards is 2 weeks (see Jie's message below).
The questions that need to be answered are whether we should go ahead with making just the boards and
then putting the components on at JLab, or if we should have them all done with one set resistors now and
change them later as needed. Also, the question as to whether the boards can be made faster at JLab, giving
time to make a test board first, is still open.
Please let us know how we should proceed. Juliette: the cost to the grant is around $2k.
Michael

Hi Michael,
After a few back and forth on the manufacture files over the weekend, the PCB company now gives an quote on PCB and assembly. The total cost is ~US$2000 for 20 boards. The parts themselves cost are about $45 per board (see the attached BOM, in which the DB50 connector is the most expensive part).
The PCB takes about 2 weeks to make, while the assembly probably depends on when we will give them a reply on if we will proceed the making or not. Anyway, they are waiting for the reply and we shall make a decision asap.
For the assembly, we need give the final values of the resistors in the BOM. I am not sure about that, though. The resistors determine the signal and noise level at the discriminator input, should be detector-dependent. We don’t have a JLab thin silicon strip detector here, hence cannot verify the values by experiment. We may simply use 100K resistors for now so that the manufacture can start quick production, but the resistors might need to be replaced in the future at JLab.
Anyway, please advise me how to proceed. Thanks!
Jie

Hello,
For assembly order W73507AST5, here attached the BOM we quoted, please kindly check and confirm especially those comments in red color showed.
For pcb, there is 0.7mm blind vias, we suggest to update to 0.2mm to make, can you accept? If yes, we can update for you.
For surface finish, we suggest to update to immersion gold, because to make blind vias, HASL is not good.
Look forward to your early reply to proceed, thank you.
