Hello everyone,
as already announced at last week's Hall A meeting, the Hall A /volatile
disk area will be switched to new Lustre file servers tomorrow, February
4. The switch is scheduled for 10am. The new servers will have higher
capacity and speed as well as newer Lustre software, all things you
want. All Hall A /volatile disk quotas will be doubled after the transition.
The data currently stored under /volatile/halla will (should!) have been
copied to the new area before the switchover, so this change will most
likely be fully transparent to you.
To ensure a smooth transition however, I recommend that you finish/stop
any jobs that write to /volatile/halla before the end of today. After
the switchover, please check for missing files. The old disk area will
continue to be visible under /volatile/halla-old (or similar) for about
a week, so if you find anything missing you can easily recover it.
Please contact me if you run into any problems or have questions.
Cheers,
Ole
