Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting October 30, 2012
1)	Thia Keppel
a)	From the Senior Staff Meeting
i)	DNP Town meeting went well
ii)	Performance appraisal is on track, if you (staff) 
haven?t setup a meeting with Thia yet, do it.
(1)	Responsibilities chart has been circulated
iii)	People who teach at local Universities, there?s been a 
procedural change. You now need prior approval from the 
Lab
iv)	12 GeV Upgrade Lehman review is scheduled for the end 
of November. Hall A?s role should be minimal
v)	End Station floodgates were untested by Hurricane Sandy
vi)	Chris Cuevas gave details of electronics group work
(1)	Impressed by GEM electronics
(2)	Putting in place a new history and repair tracking 
system for electronics (not yet ready)
2)	Heidi Fansler (for Ed) 
a)	things in general proceeding well in the Hall
b)	Møller quadrupole pair still needs modifications to the 
support stand. Ed is taking care of it.
3)	Robin Wines
a)	12 GeV:
i)	Møller:
(1)	Last quad needs stand modification, then it can go 
in
(2)	Expect super-harp weldment pieces in tomorrow
ii)	Compton: for now all problems have been addressed
b)	Gmp/DVCS:
i)	Swing arm
ii)	Have preliminary design
iii)	Having a meeting re calorimeter shielding
c)	SBS:
i)	Whit and Jack have postponed their trip to BNL to next 
week (because of Sandy)
ii)	Working on support structure
iii)	Working on magnet design
d)	A1n: re-costing using as much from Transversity as we can
e)	SOLID: met with collaborators re detectors, modeling mount 
and extension piece.
f)	Cryo-distribution upgrade: setting up a meeting this week
g)	Thia adds that Keith Welch wants to discuss beam dump 
upgrades. Meeting later this week.
h)	CAD system changeover is taking time. ?They? want to have 
the whole lab changeover from IDEAS within 1 year. Meeting 
in January for updates on questions/problems.
4)	Bert Manzlak:
a)	Last week a Hall D technician had an injury resulting in 
restricted activity. When planning/doing your work be 
careful and keep ergonomics in mind. Make the work as easy 
as you can. A report will be coming out soon.
5)	Jixie Zhang reports on HRSMC, his Monte-Carlo for g2p (and 
other things)
