Minutes of Hall A Group Meeting: December 13, 2016

 1. Thia Keppel
    a. Senior Staff
       i. Budget
          1. Budgets are tight. I must mail Rolf even for OPS spending! 
          2. Research funds are also lean 
          3. Capital came in up front….also lean, but okay
          4. Accelerator still struggling…. worried about multi-hall operations.
          5. Working on NPES schedule (won’t publish beyond 2017), KPPs priority in the spring 2017  
          6. The solution to budget and schedule woes: more beverages at party tomorrow! (Reminder, Physics Division Holiday Party)
          7. Chris Cuevas talk:
             a. Don’t permanently use extension cords or string them
             b. Add to task lists or start/stop date with OSP for in hall tests
             c. Careful of custom cables
             d. Don’t make AC power cords! They’ll do it for us
 
 2. Robin Wines
    a. SBS
       i. Continue on vertical connection to support beamline shielding
       ii. Exit clamshell for scattering chamber
       iii. Received info to complete INFN GEM holder
       iv. Started on BB detector design modifications
       v. CDet frame cleared for use and setup in Test Lab for assembly
    b. Tritium
       i. Received preliminary information on sieve requirements
    c. PREX 2/CREX
       i. Need size of sky shine shielding above target for CREX
    d. Moller
       i. A lot of time being spent preparing for Director’s Review
    e. Sent Pavel beamline from target to dump for radiation study

 3. Jessie Butler
    a. Beam in hall all week; no access for technician work
    b. Spent the week working in the Test Lab on SBS magnet steel
    c. Still trying to figure out the best solution for removing the lead from surface steel
    d. Working on compressing the equipment layout in the Test Lab in preparation to receive more HCAL modules; new delivery date 12/13
    e. Working on troubleshooting and repairing broken vacuum and turbo pumps
    f. On Thursday they had a problem in ESR which caused our magnets to dump 
       i. We were able to recover pretty quickly and get our magnets back on line within a hour
