[Halla_running] A Last Pitch for Returning to Numerical Ordering of Trigger Labels

Hi Everyone,

I would like to make one final pitch to revert the trigger names to numerical order in ALL scripts and GUIs where I have modified them. The sooner the better.

T1 - T2 - T3 - T4 - T5 - T6 - T7 - T8

For this experiment, this would mean the following definitions:

T1 - coincidence -   (S0&S2)  & (GC||PR) [LEFT] and S0&S2 [RIGHT]
T2 - coincidence -   (S0||S2) & (GC||PR) [LEFT] and (S0||S2) & (!PS(e) ) [RIGHT]
T3 -   singles   -   (S0&S2)  & (GC||PR) [LEFT]
T4 -   singles   -   S0&S2 [RIGHT]
T5 - efficiency  -   (S0||S2) & (GC||PR) [LEFT]
T6 - efficiency  -   (S0||S2) & (!PS(e) ) [RIGHT]
T7 -             -   EDTM
T8 -             -   Pulser

...which is a departure from the historical associations (T1-T2 LHRS, T3-T4 RHRS, T5-T6 Coincidence)

I fear that it will be nearly impossible to track down every instance of hard-coding the numerical order, and confusion will continue to arise when shifters/others look at the output of non-updated, hard-coded scripts.

Strongest argument: I have not yet modified the scripts that generate the Start of Run and End of Run halog entries, so all of our records so far use the labeling I have detailed above. I strongly suggest that we revert the GUIs and the whiteboard labeling to match this convention.

As far as I am aware, making this change only requires reverting the label changes in the prescale GUI and the scaler GUI. (and the whiteboard)

(NOTE: It is of utmost importance that the order of the content in all GUIs and scripts NOT be changed. This will ensure that the true meaning of a trigger rate or prescale factor can always be determined from it's position.)

Cheers,
Evan (Hall A RC)
