Dear Collaborators,

To be qualified to take Target Operator shift for the upcoming Tritium
running, you will need to take the regular cryotarget operator training,
plus a special tritium target safety training.

The special tritium training is given by Dave Meekins. He gave the very
first one already at today's Hall A weekly meeting. He plans to organize
the material and make them be available on the web (to be a web based
training). For this part of the training, please contact Dave Meekins
directly.

The regular cryotarget training is common for both Hall A and Hall C.
The training will also be combined. The requirements are list in the
Hall A cryotarget web page
http://hallaweb.jlab.org/equipment/targets/cryotargets/Halla_tgt.html

If you were trained in the last 3 years, you are still qualified as TO
for both Hall A dn Hall C (you are encouraged to attend a training
session to get refresh.)

For new ones who have never been trained before, you will need to take a
training class (~ 2hours) and a practical training (~2 hours), then a
practice (~ 2 hours).

For the ones were trained during 6 GeV time, you can read the training
slides (on the Hall A cryotarget web page) and still need to take a
practical training with a target expert.

The next training class is scheduled to be at 3:00 pm on Thursday,
November 30 in F113, given by Greg Smith (please contact Greg to sign
up). The one after is scheduled to be on Dec. 6, by Silviu Corvig
(contact Silviu to find out the time, place and to sign up).

The practical will need to have a cold target. The current schedule
has the Hall C target cooling-down (filled with He only) on Friday (Dec.
1) before noon. Two practical training sessions are scheduled right
afterwards: 2:00 pm in the Hall C counting house by Silviu Covrig
(please contact Silviu to sign up). 3:30 pm also in the Hall C counting
house by J. P. Chen (please contact J. P. to sign up).
Note: each practical training session can only accommodate up to 5-6 people.

Once the run starts, to minimize the impact of training on the running,
the training will be on scheduled as requested, but contingent upon the
running condition allows. Typically it can be scheduled while one of the
three target experts is on shift: Greg, Silviu or J. P. Following is a
link to the schedule of the available training opportunities for the
next two months
https://userweb.jlab.org/~smithg/target/Qweak/tgt_training_schedule.pdf.

Feel free to contact me or Greg or Silviu if you have questions or need
more information.

Best regards.

Jian-ping
