[Halla_running] [New Logentry] Status update

After the injector tuning yesterday, MCC started setting up beam for Hall A around the middle of swing shift. Work focused on having the Compton background rates under control. After going through scans (gang phase, laser phase, position scan) in coordination with Compton experts, we settled around 4 kHz of DS background rates. It's not ideal but Compton experts agreed to run this way over night.

Beam restoration from our end started the usual procedure to put Pb target in after long donwtime/machine change including raster size check with Carbon hole target (as there was slight change on our beamline quads). Production resumed around 21:30. While Hall B tuning continues throughout the swing and owl shifts, we received 70uA most of time. IHWP flip in the morning, and we are now at slug 62.

Due to some changes made in the machine for Hall B, the Compton bg rates varied between 4.5-5kHz. We consulted with Dave G and worked with MCC to scan the Compton positions. For most of Compton related scan, we continued taking production data and shift crew made notes for those runs.

Now the beam is taken away to tune Hall B. We were informed for 2h of downtime. In the meantime, we are in contact with Jessie to arrange a potential access to reset the AC in the hall (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3723518).

There will be no 3:30 meeting today, but we will keep you posted (HALOG).
