Regarding magnet work,
LQ3 is fixed. HES water leak fixed. Handshaking imminent. LQ2 requires
iterative adjustments which might get completed today, with luck, or
tomorrow, with less luck. The RQ1 stability has yet to be addressed,
however if LQ2 gets fixed, we could still do one arm running in principle.
Spin dance had (yesterday) been scheduled for Friday to be done with halls
A,B,C. But C's ability to move their target out of the way is in question
as of this morning, however we will see what the coming hours bring. To be
clear, we do not require the spin dance right away, just before production,
so it could happen for us before commissioning or after commissioning. We
are flexible in this regard. In principle, a spin dance can be done with
A+B, but C is more sensitive. So the parameters for spin dance are:C's
readiness, when accelerator needs E nailed down to MeV precision, when
hallC needs good polarization in their run plan. HallA is happy to do
commissioning (3-4 days) before or after a spin dance.
RF stress test had (as of 7:45) been scheduled for tomorrow in HallC,
however as of 8:15, again HallC's target motion is in question. If the
stress test remains on MCC's schedule for tomorrow, and if HallC cannot
move their target by end of day, OPS may push to setup 5-pass beam to A
instead of C for the RF stress test. However, if magnet work isn't
completed by end of day today, this would interrupt magnet work in HallA
for tomorrow. If neither hallA nor hallC is ready before this afternoon's
scheduling meeting, it may be advisable for accelerator to give the halls
one more day (Thursday) to get ready before accelerator tries to push 5pass
beam into one of the halls.
In short, hallA's fate is somewhat married to hallC.
Also, diffuser must come out before production running (contact Jay)
Alexandre is testing Compton chicane magnets today.
