RC Report 25 November 2022

Greetings humans

Summary:

after yesterday report (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4090441), Mark, Jiwan and Bill finished setting up the beam on target and we started to run on H2. Mark decided to reduce the raster a bit more (--> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4090441) (you don't want to risk our precious reference cell after the 'incident'), thus the max current was also reduced up to 20uA.
We fill the reference cell to 10 atm with H2 and for two shifts we were running without any incident (in fact, except for one hour during Owl shift, the accelerator was delivering excellent beam)
Around, 20h, Bogdan brought an excellent turkey that this RC is enjoying a lot.
Right now, Bogdan is conducting the orchestra taking pions. We vented the reference cell (--> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4090876) and took a run (please read the note below). The we reduced the BBCal threshold to -0.120 mV (500MeV). Thanks to Kate, Sebastian and, a last minute before boarding the plane, Provakar (have a nice flight and nice vacations) for helping us to set the DAC, because it was not providing the set threshold. The pion test is under way.

Issues:

- maybe not a big issue. Swing TO reported a reduction of the reference cell pressure --> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4090664 it is not a big change, BUT I would like to notice that the cell was filled early by Bill up to 140 psi, and at the time of the TO entry, the pressure was around 135 psi. Again, I don't believe it is a big issue and per Todd's instruction, just fill the cell up to 150 psi. I guess it is good to have this kind of info reported. 
- Oliver reported that the beam was not ramping up steadily after a FSD --> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4090861. Probably this issue should be addressed before setting beam on the He3 target.
- Bogdan noticed this morning that the run with empty cell were showing electrons (--> https://logbooks.jlab.org/files/2022/11/4090901/summaryPlots_2844_BBSpectro.pdf) indicating evidence of scrapping
- also it was noticed that the upper part of the hodoscope TDC spectrum is showing a different behavior with respect to the lower middle part (--> https://logbooks.jlab.org/files/2022/11/4090901/summaryPlots_2844_BBTH.pdf). Also some channels are missed, and Ralph requested access to the hall next Monday to try to repair them. 


Issues non-issues: 

- Iuliia reported that the HCAL and BB shower HV GUI was showing several off channels (--> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4090561), she noticed that the alarm handler and feedback on it were working as normal and the replays were not showing missing channels. Kate address the GUI problem and indicated that in this case the crew should check the replays to assure if there are dead channels (--> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4090896)
- also Iuliia noticed HCAL TDC plot was looking very different as before. We compared that plot with an old H2 run and indeed look different. After consulting Kate, she assure that it is ok and nothing to worry about it (--> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4090590)

Run Plan: 

- continue with the pion test. We are consulting Todd and Jack if we can get Deuterium to continue the test. At the moment of this report, waiting for Jack. This is a bit of change to the report to the PD since I assure her this morning, that it was not in our plans to access the hall. We will figure it out
- per Bogdan's request, Xinzhan integrated the SBS GEMs DAQ an hour ago, and right now we are running it and we will see some results soon. 
- this Swing shift, Mark will finish the EPICS BPM versus the harps calibration.
- continue H2 data taking (maybe D2?)
- tomorrow Saturday, around noon I will text Andrew to come and set the sieve slit for the optics run. This will requiere a short access.
