RC Report 27- November 2022

Ave Imperator, morituri te salutant!!

Summary:

after we lost the reference cell (please read previous report --> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4091615), we started shift activities at 12h. Andrew L. came at 13h and with Dave Hamlette they placed the Sieve slit in position. Dave Meekins delivered the Deuterium bottle and Andrew L. left it into the hall.
Andrew P. sent the optics run plan --> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4091609 and with slight modifications (we were not able to set single foil target -->https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4091714) we completed the run plan a bit earlier than midnight. Thanks to Bodgan+Devi and later Xinzhan+Todd and Andrew remotely supervising the analysis for the hard work under these hard circumstances. With the confirmation of the completion of the plan from the CH (~21M triggers), I consulted Andrew if more data was necessary, which was not.
I cancelled Sunday Day and Swing shifts and Monday Owl. We ramped down the magnets and turned off the detectors. That was all folks!!

Run plan (oh boy!!):

- Our fearless target leader Arun already sent an email with the organization to install the target and the reference cell. Any task target related should be consulted with Arun (and please pass the info to this humble RC).
- But, I want to emphasize the information discussed yesterday with Andrew L. The first step will be Andrew with the RadCon crew to access the hall, open the enclosure, take pictures and close it back. Then Andrew will meet with experts and PIs at the CH to discuss how to proceed. Because RadCon will be swamp in Hall C due to the target change of configuration, the temptative time for the meeting in the CH will be at 10h.
- Naturally, if the reference cell is broken as we suspect, the first step will be clean and vacuum the enclosure. How long THAT part will take? I don't know, the experience with the target was more than a shift (splitted in two days). Nevertheless, let's be optmistic and according to Arun I will put Monday Swing on standby (I already cancelled, I apologize to Lubomir and Ralph for the change of plans).
- Todd will change the H2 bottle with the D2 bottle when possible.
- Ralph asked for access into the hall to adress the lost channels of the hodoscope. Right now this access is low priority before RadCon and the target group allow it. Nevertheless Ralph, if you planned to be on shift, you can come to the CH and wait for it.
- the last goes to all the people who would like to access the hall knowing that will be SOME KIND of access (controlled for sure)...

RC notes:

- In the last reports, there were a lot of proceadures made by Mark that were not refered as I use to do (reboot of ROC6, solving the hodoscope left-right different rate --> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4091194, the change of the beam position --> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4091386). I miss some and others were published but in ELOG, thank you Mark.
- Okay, I made urgent calls to fill this weekend shifts and sadly/fortunately they were not necessary at the end, altough I did some juggling to staff two shifts. But after Tuesday, the gaps are growing fast. Consider fill it, or we will need to stop YOUR experiment.

Shift Summaries:

Owl:  CANCELLED
Day:  --> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4091773
Swing: --> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4091773

Just in advance, I will remind it tomorrow, we will have our regular RC meeting, mainly to touch base of the situation of the hall.

Vini, Vidi... Vinci?

Your RC

-Carlos
