Hall A Senior Staff / System owners: Please read the punchlist below. If
your system is on the list then please follow up with your students/post-docs
TODAY and generate a plan to understand/fix the problem.

Exec summary

NOTE: As we have started taking beam it is CRITICAL that no one
modifies/tests/perturbs any production system (DAQ, BCM, Raster signals,
detector, trigger control files, prescales, etc...) without consulting
experts and always making a halog entry.

Please leave all Counting House shift computers in a clean state for
the next shift crew (No non-mission-critical web browsers, PDF files,
terminal windows cluttering screens, etc.)

Hall has been in Beam Permit since Friday OWL

Beam has been intermittent as MCC chases accelerator problems, and as they
work on steering up 3-hall operation

There was a cold-box (cryo) trip mid-OWL shift. Recovery is ongoing.

Earliest beam is likely to be restored is mid- to late-DAY shift

Significant issues pending (Systems Owners Attn Required!)

We have been unable to steer through the 1cm ID "Raster Target" hole
without seeing rate spikes in the HRSs.

We have not been able to image the Carbon Hole target.

Part of this problem was due to broken, miscalibrated software on our
end (spot++, etc). There are questions about whether the raster is
working correctly too...

Raster and BPM confusion (questions about hardware and software status)

BCM calibration should happen today (Sunday) during DAY/SWING

We plan to call senior experts immediately if this plan runs into snags
(Mack, Alex)

We have the go-ahead to do a 'rough' BCM calibration up to 30--40uA

No target (ie. Home position)

Don't spend much time pressing the higher currents, the machine isn't
very stable yet. Just set the high-limit to the point that the machine
will allow for now.

more details below...

Hall Punchlist

Everyone needs to read and sign the COO/ESAD/RSAD in the Counting House

See also https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3375013

Harp scanners look generally OK, a couple of problems though

See https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3376480

1H00 is strange, 1C17 is not working. Both need to be looked at Monday.

Raster issues/questions

Raster scope disappeared from middle room in Counting House

how do we visually monitor the raster currents now?

more updates to shift 'howtos' needed if scope is gone for good

New Raster offset attenuators installed, made no difference(?) [Barak]

Possible swapping of raster signal to DAQ mapping [Barak]

https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3375810

Position, Energy, Current locks (and FFB) status unclear [MCC, Brad]

MCC still working on it (reminded them again this morning)

We have been unable to steer through the 1cm ID "Raster Target" hole
without seeing rate spikes in the HRSs.

Many halog entries associated with this issue

It is unclear if this is beam optics (halo, strange launch angle to
target, etc). We have a plan in place to investigate further when beam
returns today.

Can someone look at https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3376314 and estimate
beam angle and postion on target from the 1H04A/B Harp wire readouts?

We have not been able to image the Carbon Hole target.

Part of this problem was due to broken, miscalibrated software on our
end (spot++, etc). There are questions about whether the raster is
working correctly too...

The DVCS LHRS trigger blows out the file size so we are limited to 36k
events before the file splits and spot++ can not deal with the split
file. We have been switched back to the DVCS trigger from the HRS only
config, but I really do not understand why we have to deal with this
complication right now...

Raster and BPM confusion (questions about hardware and software status)

See https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3376318 (this may be fixed now?)

Still strange:

"Hall A General Tools" current readback 'hac_bcm_average' seemed to be off
by a factor of 5 from the haHallA_beam_current and 0L02 readbacks during
OWL. Calibration changed/broken?

We plan to move the LRHS to 25 degrees first thing Monday and then
get it surveyed during Beam Studies on Tuesday [Brad]

Arc scanner needs to be greased/oiled [Doug]

motion does work though, just makes a bad noise...

Arc Scanner Harp controls [new screen] does not work

Old (1 MHz) D1 BCM seems to drift, not clear if this is a serious problem or
if the drift is just below the region of relevance for that (high-current)
readback. [Kijun, Mack, et al]

Need to verify that the alarm handlers all make noise (ie. audible alarm)

LeCroy HV controls [Kijun]

Target ALH

Hall A general ALH

CODA EPICS logging still has a few missing/dead variables(?) [Alex, et al]

An updated Hall A BCM average current screen that uses the new BCM readouts
has been requested, OPS/SW working on it [Brad, Kjeldsen, Alex]

RHRS dipole showing some puzzling readbacks

Significant issue with Moller target [Sasha, Roman]

target position/angle shifts when magnet ramped up, can not maintain alignment

troubleshooting should be pursued during Friday DAY shift and have plan
ready for follow up during planned downtime on Mon/Tues

Completed Punchlist Items (new)

- A few Shift Checklist and documentation issues have been corrected [Julie]
- Right VDC gas flows not showing up on General Tools screen [Jack, Fixed]
- 103 kHz clock needs to be plugged into the DVCS DAQ at next access [Alex, Done]
- HRS Magnet issues solved (mostly)! [Segal]

See https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3375822

Left Q1 has limit of 1800A, but stay below 1600A for time being

We need to ensure shift crew have appropriate instructions on how to set
the LHRS momentum correctly given this limitation.

Right Q1 is working: 800 A software limit

RHRS should stay at 0.75GeV for now
- BCM readouts are reported to be working [Alex, Musson, Mack, Ciprian]

need to keep an eye on this though...

Tentative plan for the near term -- detailed daily runplans to come
