Exec summary

NOTE: As we have started taking beam it is CRITICAL that no one
modifies/tests/perturbs any production system (DAQ, BCM, Raster signals,
detector, trigger control files, prescales, etc...) without consulting
experts and always making a halog entry.

Please leave all Counting House shift computers in a clean state for
the next shift crew (No non-mission-critical web browsers, PDF files,
terminal windows cluttering screens, etc.)

Target is cold and 'mostly' stable

Loop 3 is the active LH2 target -- we should have enough headroom for
40--50uA at will

The scattering chamber pressure is now good, and was relatively stable
yesterday.

The target group is monitoring some anomalous pressure spikes in the
return line. Seems to be, at least in part, a bad pressure transducer
(now bypassed) https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3377831

Meekins came by around 1:30--2:00 to investigate a degrading target
vacuum, waiting on a report.

Beam returned to Hall A mid-SWING on Tuesday

Some of the delay was due to MCC (Yves, and Mike T.) developing a
2nd pass 'witness beam' to allow the Hall A energy lock to function.
This was complicated by what turned to be a failed power supply in the
2nd pass separator. That has been corrected and the witness beam will be
worked on today.

The beam spot showed up easily on the Target OTR and BeO target, but
we continued to struggle with controlling the rastered beam size on
target. Tonight, it appeared as if the magnets that raster the beam
vertically were 'stuck' at some small value. See SWING halog for a long
list of checks, and tests.

Bill G. and Bob M. checked the raster system and everything they could
check looked fine https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3377747

I checked with Yves (Optics) again, he double checked his optics params
with the machine (and had others check his work) and it looks to be on
design. Very puzzling. We will try to tease apart the optics vs.
raster issue first thing today with Yves' support.

A partial Bull's Eye scan was done, might be good to look at these to
sanity check existing calibrations and get the framework ready to process
the upcoming complete scan

https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3377649

https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3377642

https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3377633

MCC worked on debugging orbit locks

Hall A was in Controlled Access during DAY shift while MCC worked on
removing the failed magnet

Raster supplies were checked, look fine.

Target OTR camera was replaced and reposition to provide a better image
and remove a glare artifact.

MCC suspicious that MBD1H04H (correct near Moller quads) was wired
backwards. Was checked and found to be wired correctly.

1H04 Harp IOC had locked up mid-OWL was rebooted in the labyrinth

We will return to 1-Pass Wednesday SWING and execute the following:

Complete the target/beam alignment study with a plan to isolate the raster
performance from the focusing effects of the quads for debugging
purposes.

Do a BPM calibration/Bull's Eye scan

Begin the 1-pass optics studies for DVCS and GMp

Best estimate of schedule through weekend:

Accelerator will restore beam to Hall A during SWING

Beam off around 4--5am in OWL, and will remain down into Thursday SWING
(likely longer than today).

Hall A will complete the 1-pass program described above and move to
2-pass at first opportunity (Friday at the latest)

Note that with 3+ pass disabled, Hall A is the only Hall in operation
for the rest of this week.

Weekend running will proceed as previously planned:

Hall A should be at 2-pass by that point and will remain there

Hall B take 1-pass and have priority

Hall Punchlist

Everyone needs to read and sign the COO/ESAD/RSAD in the Counting House

See also https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3375013

RQ1 'bigbox' power supply is getting disabled by OPS when they go to work on
the Arc string.

Moller quad supply has seen the same issue (not 'ours', but may have to
remind MCC if operators are struggling)

MCC notified, see also https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3377868

Problem with D_new values maybe due to bad cables (now replaced)? [Mack,
Thir, Musson]

Old (1 MHz) D1 BCM seems to drift, not clear if this is a serious problem
or if the drift is just below the region of relevance for that
(high-current) readback. [Kijun, Mack, et al]

Analysis continues.

Update software coefficients as needed.

Clarify LHRS momentum limits

In Amperes: LQ1 is 'comfortable' at 1600A, 'probably fine' at 1800A,
and Jack is getting very uncomfortable above that.

Establish what the above currents map to in terms of GeV/c with standard
optics.

The rest of the magnets are good up to 4 GeV/c

Clarify RHRS momentum limits

Jessie [Techs] need to move the power supply blocking large angle RHRS

Need 'golden spectra' for online replay eventually

Have 'howto' for manually logging Arc Energy information

https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3377609

Need to add to Shift worker 'howto' and shift checklist (ie. do this
1/shift)

Arc energy scan at 2 pass (4.48 GeV/c)

Doug will attach orbit information as a comment to
https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3376077 [needs to be done]

Harp scanners look generally OK, one question mark remaining

1C17 maybe fixed, should run it tonight to check

Position, Energy, Current locks (and FFB) actively still being worked by MCC
[MCC, RC]

Beam position studies

We have been unable to steer through the 1cm ID "Raster Target" hole

We have not been able to image the Carbon Hole target.

We will revisit this at first beam this afternoon.

Arc energy scan at 1-pass?

Doug off-site for the week. Buddhini?

Doug will put in request to get the Ultrastab current meter into EPICS
archiver (will give us a precision history of the current in the arc
dipoles) [Request in, not done yet]

Doug suggest measuring/logging the current in the dipole string with
Ultrastab. The field is extremely linear at these energies, so BdL
measured at 2-pass can be scaled with good accuracy. [Needs to be looked
at. Buddhini, Doug?]

Get offset/attenuator cards to Fast Electronics for repair [Alex, Barak]

Arc scanner needs to be greased/oiled [Doug]

motion does work though, just makes a bad noise...

Arc Scanner Harp controls [new screen] does not work

An updated Hall A BCM average current screen that uses the new BCM readouts
has been requested, OPS/SW working on it [Brad, Kjeldsen, Alex]

Significant issue with Moller target [Sasha, Roman]

target position/angle shifts when magnet ramped up, can not maintain alignment

Moller group completed their work on the exterior of the Moller target
motion system. See https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3377438

Beamline vacuum was not touched. That work will be deferred to the
next opportunistic down

Completed Punchlist Items (new)

Target computer sound fixed

CODA EPICS logging still has a few missing/dead variables(?) [Alex, et al]

[new] also epicsLogger problems (Right and left DAQs calling same logging
