<p>We have been trying very hard to get any beam into the hall over the weekend but so far we have no any luck. The 2nd-pass separator (XSEP4T) wasn't functioning on Friday and our accelerator colleagues swapped the power-supply from the 3rd-pass separator (XSEP6T) on Saturday morning but still couldn't power on the unit. They suspected the problem is from the magnets but to further investigate that requires a major down-time, which they don't want to do. The initial decision was to give up Hall-A for the entire weekend, but we provided the option of running with the 3rd-pass beam. To do that, the same team put the power-supply back to XSEP6T on Sunday morning. Things started to look positive and MCC was trying to separate beam into our ARC, until the ARC4 tripped twice which basically concluded the failure of our weekend efforts. Despite the disappointment, we still would like to thank the accelerator colleagues, especially Simon and his team members, for their great effort in trying to bring back the separators and the beam into the hall. </p>
<p>During the morning discussion this morning, the accelerator crews have worked out a plan to bring back hall-A: At 1PM, MCC will stop the beam to Hall-B at 1:00PM for 2hrs, so they can investigate most of problems they are having, including XSEP4T/6T. For 6T, they suspect there may be just a software problem and they will reverse the setting back to the previous working stage. For 4T, they need to do more tests to see if it is really problems on any of the magnets. If there is the magnet issue, they won't be able to do anything in this December run so we won't have the 2-pass beam.</p>
<p>While Hall-C is having the 1-pass beam, we will see if we can have the 3rd-pass beam, with which we should be able to complete most of the commissioning tasks. Eventually Hall-C will demand the 3rd-pass beam in this week, and we will end up having the 1st-pass beam (or maybe 4th-pass beam as a backup). The physics goals with the 3rd- or 1st-pass beam will be adjusted.</p>
<p>We can have a very short 4PM meeting today and listen to Doug's "Tomorrow" song.</p>
