Yesterday we had a slow start after the dump vacuum issues were resolved. Dave Meekins stayed in until around 19:00 to try and understand why our target ladder was cooler than the coolant that we were sending in. At that time he concluded that we can start the recovery process (even though the issue was not fully understood).

We followed procedure and took a couple of runs with the old raster size (and an additional run with ~2x raster size). We concluded that the old raster sizes as determined on Sunday were acceptable and we sent that information to Dave (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3611136). He agreed and allowed us to proceed to full 22.5 uA current on gas targets.

After about 1 h of beam on He3 we had a temperature/vacuum incident (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3611196). We took beam away and Dave came in to troubleshoot the problem. He asked MCC to close the 16in valve DS of the target chamber. Vacuum and temperatures recovered while he was on his way (vacuum reached down to ~2e-7). First he stabilized the temperature on the target by adjusting the cooling. As a second check he opened the gate valve back and vacuum slowly went up to 2e-6 (as expected). After he had a small amount of beam on the H target (~8 uA) to see the effect, followed by full beam on H and He3 targets. Through about 2 hours the vacuum and temperatures on the ladder were stable. We went back to production.

Through the night we filled in 4 more boxes (2x 80 mC on He3 and 2x 80 mC on H3). Things went fairly smooth with the exception of opened the JT valve more (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3611292) at Dave's request. The target operator increased the flow again after seeing an increase in ladder temperature (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3611355 and https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3611358).

This morning things were looking good and we were gearing up for a smooth production run. At around 8 40 we had a series of temperature alarms (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/3611417). This was due to warm 15K coolant coming in from the ESR. We took beam away and informed Silviu (target expert on call and Dave M). It turns out that Hall A target cooling system was drawing too much coolant and was returning with a higher than normal temperature.

We are now in controlled access waiting for Dave Meekins to come in and look at the target system.
