RC Report 24 November 2022

Howdy folks, there is a new Sheriff in town A

Summary:

Yesterday, Bill dressed as a Chernobyl liquidator, cleaned most of the debris caused by the cell rupture. Afterwards, Bill and Arun restored the broken carbon foils. With green light to proceed with the run plan, Jiwan with the help of Simona (we sent Bill to sleep after a long day) were setting the beam into the hall. They discourage the use of the reference cell without understanding the position of the carbon hole measured with the DAQ with respect the information got in situ.
Mark Jones called the PIs to postpone any decision until today morning in a meeting.
Early this morning, Bill just found that the position of the carbon hole offset was not so different than the position before the target incident (--> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4090304), so we were good to continue to delivery beam with the reference cell, H2 at 10 atm.
At the moment of this report the beam was ready to be delivered (harp scans -->https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4090334 -->https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4090333 , ion chambers check --> https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4090402), magnets are ramping up.

Run plan:

We will run H2 during the whole day. WE CAN run the BBCal lower threshold test (pions rates), but from the RC meeting yesterday we move to 1 run with lower threshold to 1 run with H2 single arm, and 1 run coincidence. 1 run N2 and I am assuming single and coincidence (2 runs) but the last was not crystal clear to me. Nevertheless, I guess with 1 run we are talking about 2M events? more statistics? Please, send me an email. Naturally, we can run the test tomorrow during Day shift under Bogdan supervision.

We have the SBS GEMs DAQ integration pending and I still don't know when and how they want to proceed, please send me an email.

Definitely, we won't have RC meeting today since any plan to happen was discussed yesterday and this morning to set the reference cell decision.

Happy Thanksgiving day

Your humble RC

-Carlos

Fun Fact of the day: "Turkey wasn’t on the menu at the first Thanksgiving. Venison, duck, goose, oysters, lobster, eel, and fish were likely served, alongside pumpkins and cranberries (but not pumpkin pie or cranberry sauce!)"
