<p>Day and swing shift mostly saw uninterrupted production data. The beam went down at around 20:30. It was restored around midnight and the shift crew began beam checkout. Harp scans (<a href="https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4195877">https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4195877</a>) and beam raster (<a href="https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4195890">https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4195890</a>) were posted and looked okay.</p>
<p>At 02:12 5uA of beam was taken at no target with appropriate carbon hole xsof ysof, and the BPM and IC rates were stable.<br />
At 03:11 a carbon hole run was taken (run 5640)<br />
At 03:19 the pumping cell temperature dropped from around 280 to 240 in around 2 minutes. This did not trigger the alarm handler, which has a LO set point of 180. As such the TO didn't immediately notice.</p>
<p>Subsequent NMR measurements returned polarization close to 0, suggesting a problem. Upon further investigation the Pumping Cell temperature drop was then noticed. This immediately raised concerns of a rupture.<br />
Low current was put on the pol He3 target position to verify that it was still there. The resulting 50K replay plots (run 5641) showed missing target window spikes on the track vz reconstructions at ~+-0.3, as well as a spike at ~z=0.</p>
<p>At the start of day shift we began moving toward having the hall swept and put to controlled access, with magnet HVs and lasers locked out in order to access the target enclosure. Visual inspection of the target enclosure around 12pm confirmed that the target cell has unfortunately ruptured.<br />
Swing shift today, Owl and Day tomorrow are on stand by for now. </p>
<p>We will coordinate to clean up the enclosure, and progress with the installation of the new cell across tomorrow and Wednesday.</p>
